Air is a petal from florr.io. Its function consists of increasing the size of your flower. Air is dropped by Bubble mobs.
Appearance[]
Air consists of thin air, or, as its description makes clear, Air appears to be literally nothing.
Function[]
Rarity | Obtainable? | Extra Radius |
---|---|---|
Common | Yes | 8 |
Unusual | 16 | |
Rare | 24 | |
Epic | 32 | |
Legendary | 40 | |
Mythic | 48 | |
Ultra | 56 | |
Super | 64 | |
Unique | 72 |
At first, Air appears to be literally nothing. However, once equipped, it increases the flower's size (and consequently its hitbox) by a certain amount. Technically, it also increases petal attack radius (due to the increased body pushing out the petals), as well as the distance of petals between each other (as it won't appear in your petal orbit). It doesn't stack, meaning that more Airs won't further increase the size of your flower. However, Soil's own flower size buff is able to stack with Air's buff.

Strategies[]
- Air affects gameplay significantly, since changing the size of the flower consequently makes its hitbox bigger. It also technically removes a petal slot, as it typically doesn't aid you very much.
- You could try to use Air like you would use Soil: a bigger size means easier ramming, and, unlike with Soil, Air doesn't make you lose movement speed, so this should help, but beware, as Air doesn't stack or give you extra HP. Thus, if you're willing to use Air, do so in a ramming build with some Cacti. Air can also be used to become a budget moon, because it is important to be big for that.
- Air can also be used to tank ranged mobs, as they'll most likely hit you more often than anyone nearby. Remember to bring healing petals to aid you meanwhile.
- Air will find itself competing with Soil in a place for the meta, generally 3 Soils can perform better than one Air even though they do not increase the size of your flower. by the same amount, and Soil's movement speed problem could be easily solved with petals like Bubble. Air's lack of HP buff could be mitigated by Cacti, which should be present in builds with Air.
- You can also push players around easier with Air, and it is useful for pushing squadmates around when they are AFK to another spot.
Garden
- Air can be used to divert or straight up tank a Hornet's missiles for your teammates. This can apply to swarms of Hornets if you're well prepared and can outheal the missiles' damage output.
- Air could also be used to ram multiple segments of a Centipede or multiple Ants from an Ant Hole while quickly killing all of them. If too many of them aggro on you, your movement speed could save you.
- The most detrimental interaction in Garden with Air is against Spiders, as they'll be able to poison you earlier and more times than usual due to your extra size.
- Dandelion mobs will also benefit from Air, as they will be more likely to hit you with their Dandelions and cripple your healing when you activate them.
Desert
- If you don't want to keep Air in your inventory, try to find the Trader so you can give him Air for a Coin of the same rarity. This is specially valid for Mythic+ Airs.
- Just like against Hornets, Air can be used to block Legendary+ Scorpion stingers if one of them is aggroed on you/shooting stingers near your direction, taking all of the poison damage by yourself and letting other players survive. For that, you need to bring a Basil and Leaves/Yuccas to outheal the stingers and Lotus to take minimal poison damage.
- Beetles will be slightly more lethal, as they'll end up reaching your hitbox earlier than usual unless you can distract it a lot by making it turn around.
- The increased speed of Desert Centipedes compared to a normal one means that you'll be less likely to escape one if it locks onto you. At least they're considerably weak, but they still have multiple segments, which is why you need to be worried.
- Soldier Fire Ants deal double damage to you, which is another thing to worry when using Air.
- In most cases, you don't want to use Air here, as Sandstorms will kill you as your increased size makes it easier for you to get hit by them. However, against Super Sandstorms, Air can prove to be useful, as, just like Soil, the flower size boost it gives to you will prevent the Sandstorm pulling you towards it and potentially killing you.
Ocean
- Air might let you interfere with a Super Shell mob's pearl projectiles, avoiding letting other players die by them similar to a Scorpion in Desert. Remember to bring heals with you or a Jelly to knock back the pearls instead of Air.
- Another thing Air can do is letting Jellyfish reach you quicker, however, since they're already aggroed on you, and more flower size means more room for lightning discharge bounces, Air will mostly be detrimental. Also, lightning discharges aren't physical projectiles, so you can't divert them.
- Just like with Desert Centipedes, the usage of Air will increase the chances of a Leech heavily damaging you.
- Air will also increase the chances of a Crab successfully hitting you during a ram charge.
Obtaining[]
- You could aim for Common to Rare Bubble mobs in low rarity zones (specially the Bubble zone, located below the initial spawn point) for quick Air farming. Either that and then craft your loot, or wander in the Ocean's Mythic zones, the Ocean Maze, Ocean Trench and/or the Crab Kingdom to face many dangerous enemies, but have a high chance of getting Legendary+ Airs.
- Since they barely do any good to you and your strategies, it is very easy to get plenty of high rarity Airs, letting you farm them and craft them very frequently.
- Farming for Airs is more beneficial if you want to trade high rarity Airs for a Coin, which actually does pretty well in the meta.
- The best places to farm high rarity Air petals are Crab Kingdom and Ocean Maze, both being Ultra zones. Crab Kingdom is easier as the only other frequent mob there is, obviously, Crab, as opposed to every Ocean mob. However, a strong build consisting of mostly Ultra or Super petals for both of these places is required, as they are one of the hardest zones in the game (specially the Ocean Maze). They are both very rewarding in terms of high rarity petal drops (which includes Air), so it is worth the risk if you're willing to farm for Air petals.
Jungle
- Try to use Air to tank Mantis and Wasp hits for your teammates while healing yourself in the process. It is useful as a distraction petal, but you need to be able to tank the projectiles accordingly. This is specially true for the Mantises' pea projectiles, as they will inflict a 10 second Armor debuff to you (the duration accumulates for each hit you take). Using Root might help you with that.
- Similar strategies against the normal Centipede should apply to the Evil Centipede.
- If fighting on a Termite Mound, always be sure that you can handle the Termites inside, and switch your loadout when fighting a Termite Overmind (as it's too tanky to fight with a reliable ram build).
Hel
PvE[]
- Unless you're in a squad, you won't need to tank projectiles for anyone in Hel due to the PvP mechanic.
- That being said, you can still effectively tank Hel Wasp missiles as intended.
- Strategies similar to the normal Centipede can be applied to its Hel variant.
- Hel Beetles and Hel Spiders will massively benefit from your increased size due to each mob's respective abilities.
- Gamblers will also be more likely to hit you with their dangerous petals, specially since they will get away from you once you try to ram them.
PvP: Using[]
- A player could've used 3-5 Airs (of preferably Common rarity) to trick the opponents as if the user is a beginner, then switch to stronger petals at the right time. However, it sacrifices slots that could be used for better bait-and-switch petals.
- When normally using this, you can use a ram build to be more likely to hit enemy flowers than usual. Beware, as it also means you will get hit more times by enemy petals.
PvP: Against[]
- Air only makes players more vulnerable to both mobs and other players as they will have a bigger hitbox and less petals.
- Previously, players using Air could've pretended to be a beginner, waiting until someone comes close to them, then swapping to a strong build. Otherwise, Air is a waste of slots that could lead to an easy win, as the petal doesn't have any useful moments, and bait-and-switch Air users can easily be killed by the Hel mobs.
- This is no longer the case when they use Air as it now increases their redius, allowing you to distinguish them from beginners.
- You can also distinguish them from beginners by looking at their level.
- You also need to watch out for possible ram builds, as Air can buff them due to their increased size. This means, though, that you'll be more likely to hit an Air user, specially from afar with ranged petals.
- Air users can be easily spotted by their bigger hitbox and lack of Soil petals.
Ant Hell
- The lack of ranged enemies in all Ant Hells isn't much of a deal in this case, You can still hit many Ants at once for quick and heavy ram damage with the right build.
- Important things to note include Fire Ants dealing double damage, Termites aggroing many of them at once due to Psyonic Connection and the Ant Hell bosses tanking more damage before dying.
- You can use Air to block the entrance of Ant Hell, as your size may be enough to fir in with the borders of the entrance. Such activities are considered trolling and not encouraged here (plus it can easily be circumvented by using the Shovel's ability).
Sewers
- Again, Spiders will be more likely to reach you and will poison and ram you more times than usual due to your range.
- If aggroed, Roaches will also benefit from this, specially due to their massive speed.
- Using this in Sewers will aggro more Flies onto you, and they'll also end up hitting you earlier than normal. Their damage output combined with their numbers can easily end your run.

Trivia[]
- Air is the subject of one Achievement: the "Breathe In, Breathe Out" Epic Achievement (which is one of the seven secret Achievements in the game), granted to you once you rapidly equip and unequip an Air of any rarity multiple times.
- This Achievement, Air's "appearance" and Air's description are a reference to real-life air, invisible to the human eye, but extremely necessary for humans (especially due to the presence of O2, the molecular Oxygen, in the atmosphere).
- Air's flower size buff values are multiples of eight.
- Prior to the April 21st, 2024 update, people jokingly classified Air as the "number one" petal.
- Although it was an obvious lie and/or only a silly joke, Air did have some pretty niche uses. Air could be used to fill up petal slots to prevent from automatically equipping any petals, and increasing the pick-up range and petal range, as well as helping in ram builds. However, the niche it fills could still easily be replaceable by Soil, Magnet, using a secondary build and other similar cases. After the update, the niche uses became obsolete due to Air making you larger.
- Before an update, Air used to do nothing, thus simply "removing" a petal slot. Now, it increases your flower's radius, like Soil. However, unlike Air, Soil stacks, increases by 10 per petal on all rarities, increases the user's HP and decreases the user's speed, while Air increases by a set amount each rarity, is unstackable and doesn't affect the user's HP and speed. Soil is still able to stack with Air.
- Air, Chip, Dahlia and Dice are the only petals that all rarities of a mob that drops the petal can drop with a 100% chance (Bubble mob for Air, Gambler for Chip and Dice and Shiny Ladybug for Dahlia).
- Air is the only petal guaranteed to be dropped by all mobs (that drop this petal) at any rarity.
- This is due to the fact that Air is useless, as it only makes you more vulnerable.
- Air is the only petal guaranteed to be dropped by all mobs (that drop this petal) at any rarity.
- Air is tied with Bur and Poo for the feature with the shortest name in the whole game, with only 3 letters.
- Air is the only petal to be literally nothing in appearance. It also used to be literally nothing in functions before the April 21st, 2024 update.
- Air is tied with Battery, Card, Chip, Compass, Corruption, Dahlia, Dice and Rose for the highest drop chance of an Ultra petal in the game (64.3%).
- All mentioned petals plus Missile and Pollen are the only petals to have a higher chance to drop at Ultra rarity (64.3% for said petals, 58.4% for Missile and Pollen) than at Mythic rarity (35.7% for said petals minus Compass and Corruption, 41.6% for Missile and Pollen) by the Super rarity variation of the mob that drops this (Bubble mob for Air, Shiny Firefly for Battery, Gambler for the Hel petals, Termite Overmind for Compass, Shiny Ladybug for Dahlia and Rose, Hel Wasp and Wasp for Missile and Bumble Bee for Pollen).
- In Air's case, it's yet again due to the fact it's useless, and the extra radius only makes you more vulnerable.
- Since, once again, Air brings no major benefit to you and it mostly detriments you, the Legendary rarity variant of Air is the cheapest petal available to be sold in the Shop, having a 0.5x star price multiplier of a petal's base star price: 10 stars compared to the base 20. However, it used to be even cheaper, being sold at 5 stars instead (0.25x multiplier).
- On April 21st, 2023, the cheapest petal ever sold in the Shop was present: a Legendary Air wth a 20% discount, making it cost only 4 stars (since at the time its multiplier was 0.25x).
- Air can be classified as a wearable petal, because it doesn't rotate around your flower like others, and modifies your flower's appearance, but also can't be classified as one, as it doesn't appear as an accessory for your flower (as it doesn't even appear at all).
- Air is one of the Unique petals that can be forged with another Unique petal from the Titan. In Air's case, it's Bubble.
