Not to be confused with the Beetle Egg, which shares the same shortened in-game name, but spawns one Beetle instead.

This page is about the Ant Egg petal. For the mob which shares its in-game name, see Ant Egg (Mob).

Ant Egg, also shortened in-game to Egg, is a legacy petal from florr.io. The petal contains 4 Eggs that squish petals like the Light. The Eggs themselves are very weak and don't do any damage, but each Egg, upon broken, spawns an allied Soldier Ant, which targets any hostile entity close to its user. The Ant Egg is dropped by Ant Egg Mobs, Fire Ant Eggs, Termite Eggs, Queen Ants and Queen Fire Ants.

To avoid confusion, every instance mentioning the petal as a whole will be Ant Egg, while the four separate Eggs that form this petal will be called Egg.

Appearance[]

  • A singular Egg petal is shaped like a perfect circle with the same color scheme as the Beetle Egg, much like the Ant Egg mob.
  • The icon for the Ant Egg petal displays it as all four Eggs occupying one spot like the Sand, but in-game, before the eggs hatch, they squish other petals together like Unusual+ Lights.
  • The Soldier Ants spawned from this appear the same as regular Soldier Ants, but their body (including its borders) is yellow-colored rather than gray, indicating it's a friendly mob. The yellow color is close to the flowers' yellow colors to represent this.

Function[]

Note: The "A + B" respawn format means that the petal takes A seconds to respawn and B seconds after respawning to do its special action/have its special action enabled.

Super 84.1 seconds 4x Soldier Ant (Mythic)
Unique 8.2 seconds 4x Soldier Ant (Ultra)

The Ant Egg contains 4 separate Eggs. These Eggs decrease the distance between petals until they break. Each Egg spawns 1 Soldier Ant, for a total of 4 Soldier Ants for one Ant Egg. Eggs present in the petal (and therefore Soldier Ants hatched) can be increased by one with the Duplicator Talent. The Soldier Ants spawned from this will wander around the flower if there's no entities nearby, but will follow the flower if they go too far away from them. If they spot hostile entities, they will prioritize aggressive mobs over neutral mobs, then neutral mobs over passive mobs, then passive mobs over flowers, and finally other flowers. This petal has a secret interaction with the Relic petal in which the mobs hatched during a Relic's usage will be Soldier Termites instead.

Strategy[]

  • Generally, you can circle around your target, dodging its attacks while you wait for the Ant Eggs to spawn and take care of the enemy quickly.
  • Super Ant Egg has very high yet inconsistent DPS, even above Super Iris on some Super Mobs. This makes some players load it on their way to the Super Mob and only hatch it once into the target, dealing millions of damage.
  • Soldier Ants hatched from an Ant Egg of a certain rarity will take away mobs of the same rarity, though they'll die together in the process.
  • Their high damage output can further be boosted with Bur, while you can try to reduce respawn time with the Reload Talent Tree. This makes Ant Egg's damage output and DPS vastly superior to Beetle Egg's on mobs that apply (all except Leafbug and Shell).
  • As a secret mechanic, Relic actually changes this petal: Ant Eggs will spawn friendly Soldier Termites instead. This mechanic was responsible for the Termites' HP nerf, as players would bubble away from their Soldier Termites and let them damage a mob, dealing dozens of millions of damage. Video.

Garden

  • Ant Egg is particularly useful in Garden. You can use this to distract Hornets and block its powerful missiles, or to defeat Bees without engaging in close combat and risking ram damage. In the Hornets' case, you should try using other high damaging petals together with Eggs, as the "pets" will die very quickly from them while do little damage due to the Hornets' high body damage and moderate HP, as well as the fired Missiles.
  • The Soldier Ants will also be good at distracting a Spider so you don't risk dying to them. Use this to your advantage if you're going to use other attacking petals with you.

Desert

  • The Ant Egg is useful for blocking any poisonous missiles Scorpions may shoot. They also kill Beetles rather quickly.
    • Try to use it against Legendary+ Scorpions, as they have unlimited ammunition but can easily be blocked by the Soldier Ants. Just remember that they might be killed in the process.
  • Soldier Ants are great at distracting the aforementioned mob as well as the Desert Centipede, but also can take Soldier Fire Ants spawned from a Fire Ant Burrow with relative ease. Soldier Fire Ants can take two friendly Soldier Ants of the same rarity due to their double damage, so take note of that.
  • Sandstorms can also be dealt with ease when using Ant Eggs, as you can avoid risking ramming them (due to their unpredictable movements) to kill them to get Glass/Sand. However, be careful, as Mythic+ Sandstorms have big hitboxes.

Ocean

  • The spawned Soldier Ants can attack and distract Crabs and Leeches from far away, thus avoiding dying quickly. Avoid using against Shells, since their high armor will nullify damage from ants of a rarity equal or below to theirs.
  • It can be suggested against Jellyfishes, as the amount of Soldier Ants will prevent the lightning attacks from reaching you as long as you stay a safe distance away from the Soldier Ants in contact with the Jellyfish.

Ant Hell

  • Ant Hell is a good place for Ant Eggs. One Soldier Ant can take another Soldier Ant of the same rarity, while it only takes around two to kill a Soldier Fire Ant, then, they can severely cripple all Termites, and finally, they're decently good against all bosses there, whether it's Queen Ant, her fire version or Termite Overmind.

Obtaining[]

  • After the Ant Hell rework on January 1st, 2025, Ant Eggs became notoriously hard to obtain, since Queen Ants spawn very scarcely and their high-rarity versions will only spawn in extremely hard areas to grind. This is also true for Basil.
  • As Queen Ants will spawn from Ant Holes in Garden, this biome can be used to farm Ant Egg as well.

Hel

Using[]

  • Use this petal when running away from players, since the Soldier Ants can knock the enemy back while you run away, resulting in Bubbles usually being useless for chasing you.
  • The Ants are also good damage absorbers, as they can deplete other players' petals (including Gamblers) as well as other mobs, like a Hel Wasp's shotgun missiles. They can also distract Hel Beetles, Hel Centipedes and Hel Spiders.
  • Much like Beetle Egg, an effective way to use Ant Eggs in Hel as DPS is to bubble past the target and let your mobs damage it from afar, as this way you can deal a lot of damage while not being endangered yourself.

Against[]

  • Lightning is one of the best counters to this, since it will strike many Ants at once for good damage, potentially killing the Ants and even damage the player using it. Battery could also work the same way, since the Ants will try to stay close to you, thu possibly ramming onto you, triggering the Battery.
  • Use many Jelly petals or Heavy to knock the Ants back. This can be paired with Faster because you can take care of the Ants quicker at the cost of less damage and knockback.
  • You should also defeat Ant Egg users by treating them the same as big swarms of Ants in Ant Hell.
  • It should be noted that it's most beneficial if you chase the player rather than try killing the Soldier Ants spawned from the Eggs, but you can try killing the Soldier Ants to cause the Ant Egg to go into cooldown (especially if it's a Mythic+ Ant Egg) and severely weaken its user.
  • Bones of rarities higher than the target ants will deal massive amount of damage to them.

Jungle

  • Despite the Firefly's lightning discharges when rammed, it still fares well here, specially because it distracts and mitigates Mantis and Wasp projectiles as well as taking care of the Termites in Termite Mounds. Leafbugs will not take damage from Soldier Ants a rarity equal or below to them, and should be avoided.

Sewers

  • Super Ant Eggs can be very useful in the end zone, as you can stay in a corner while your fellow Ultra Soldier Ants block basically anything from reaching any killing you. However, huge swarms, Super mobs and the AFK Check message will hinder this, as well as the very long recharge.
  • On normal gameplays, they can distract Flies and Spiders, but beware of aggroing Roaches.

Trivia[]

  • The name Ant Egg wasn't actually used in the game until around 2024, despite the petal being (re)added in 2023.
  • On 06/02/2025, Ant Egg mechanic were changed. Now Ant Egg only spawns friendly Soldier Ants upon collision with a mob.
  • Many people think this update was an egg nerf.
  • The Ant Egg, the Beetle Egg, the Mysterious Stick, the Magic Stick and the Square are the only petals who spawn friendly mobs. Curiously, all of those petals spawn friendly variations of the mobs that drops said petals, except the Ant Egg itself (though Soldier Ants can be hatched from an Ant Egg created by a Queen Ant).
  • Since mobs cannot go into walls unless there happens to be a glitch, the petals of the Ant Egg, the Beetle Egg and the Stick won't go past the wall. The same is true for the Carrot (for a different reason).
  • This was the first petal to have a hidden feature: having Relic in another slot will transform the Soldier Ants into Soldier Termites.
  • This was the first petal to spawn a friendly mob, with the others being the Beetle Egg, the Stick, the Square and lastly Magic Stick.
  • This petal was inspired from legacy florr: there, it was a petal simply called the Egg which was a singular Egg that hatched into a friendly Soldier Ant. It was dropped at Epic rarity by Ant Holes (whereas it can't drop from there now) and Queen Ants pretty rarely. It was also shaped like the Beetle Egg nowadays.
    • The Beetle Egg itself also followed this, maintaining the shape and singular Egg from the Legendary Egg, except it dropped from an old, huge version of the Beetle called the Massive Beetle.
      • Both of those spawned friendly and normal-colored variations of their respective mobs as opposed to yellow-colored variants of this.
    • This is one of the many petals that are dropped by a mob of the same name. The others are: Bubble, Cactus, Dandelion, Jelly (partially), Rock, Shell, Sponge, Square and Starfish. In this, it's the Ant Egg Mob.
      • However, the mob variations of this, Bubble and Dandelion only came with the new florr.io (Dungeons/Maze map in the case of Dandelion), with the Ant Egg mob taking even longer to be in the game until Ant Hell 2 was released.
  • The Ant Egg-Relic interaction, the Clover-Dice interaction and the Compass-Magnet interaction are the only interactions in the entire game to happen between only two petals. All other interactions are more generalized (for example, Basil and healing petals).
  • Starting at Rare rarity, all Soldier Ants hatched from Ant Eggs will be one rarity lower than the petal. This is shared with the Beetle Egg starting at Legendary rarity.
    • Surprisingly, Ant Egg and Beetle Egg have interesting stats: the Ant Egg has a cooldown of 30 seconds at Common rarity and spawns Common Soldier Ants, the Unusual rarity has a cooldown of 38 seconds and spawns Unusual Ants and the Rare rarity has a cooldown of 2 seconds and spawns Unusual Ants. This means that its cooldown rises, then falls to 2 seconds and then begins raising again to up to 84.1 seconds. Beetle Egg also shares this, as its cooldown timers go from 15, to 19.2, to 23.5, then to 32.0 at Epic rarity and then 1.8 seconds at Legendary rarity, then increasing again as normal, spawning Common, Unusual, Rare, Epic and Epic Beetles. They are the only two petals to have this weird oscillation in the respawn timer, as not even the Stick or the Square have this.
    • At Unique Rarity, Ant Egg still spawns Ultra Soldier Ants.
