Basil is a petal from florr.io. Its function consists of increasing all healing statistics of any given healing petal by a certain percentage. Basil is dropped by Queen Ants.
Appearance[]
Basil consists of 3 conjoined Leaf petals in one singular petal slot, each one pointing to the direction opposing the center. The leaves' arrangement create an invisible, equilateral triangle with their pointy ends. Also, the leaves composing Basil appear to lack a stem (or they at least hide the stems from each other), as the leaves appear to cover the stems from appearing, thus, only the leaves appear.
Function[]
Rarity | Obtainable? | Respawn | Healing Bonus |
---|---|---|---|
Common | No | 2.5 seconds | +20% |
Unusual | +25% | ||
Rare | +30% | ||
Epic | +35% | ||
Legendary | +40% | ||
Mythic | Yes | +45% | |
Ultra | +50% | ||
Super | +55% | ||
Unique | +60% |
Basil modifies your healing petals in a positive manner: it buffs their healing capabilities, letting you receive more HPregen (Health Points Regeneration, or simply HPr) per healing petal, whether it's a burst healer (Dahlia or Rose), a passive healer (Leaf, Starfish and Yucca) or an offensive healer (Fangs). It does not affect other players. While the effect stacks with both itself and the Medic Talent, it stacks on additions, not multiplications. As an example, two Mythic Basils will increase healing by 90%. Basils will also spin around its center faster than other petals.

Strategies[]
- Basil's main usage is when 2 or more healing petals are used at once, where it's preferred that the rarity of the healing petals is at least rhe same as Basil's, letting you recover even more HP while allowing you to counterattack anything that might've been damaging you beforehand.
- Basil can also significantly boost ram builds, as you'll get more HP per second before, during and after attempting to ram something, letting you ram the enemy more times and dealing more damage to them over time. This is specially true if you use Cactus to further increase your HP.
- Basil's best synergies would be Leaf and Yucca, not only because of their stats, but also because of the situations they're used: Leaves will let you passively regain health while dealing good damage, and Yuccas can be activated when you go into defensive mode, letting you regain HP quicker when you're defending from, running away from or dodging a mob (or multiple of them) before your counterattack. Starfish can also be used to synergize with a Basil, specially since its stats are the same as Yucca, without requiring to go into defensive mode, however, keep in mind that a Starfish will only work while you're below 75% of your HP, which means Basil+Starfish strategies should only be used when you're in a hurry. Using Yucca and going to your defensive position to regain full HP is generally better than using a Starfish and regaining only slightly above 75% of your HP, unless either your inventory has higher rarity Leaves or the same build has Bubbles.
- As for the other healing petals: Fangs could be a nice choice, since they'll provide a good amount of health each time they damage something. Dahlia and Rose, while providing a good amount of burst healing, might not fit for the job, as their weak durability might get them constantly destroyed by other mobs in your surroundings, causing you to get no HP and Basil to effectively not boost any HPr.
- A build consisting of 1-2 Basils and 8-9 Leaves/Yuccas in your secondary loadout will allow you to quickly regain health for you to begin a counterattack with your main build.
- Basil's boost is specially useful in Sponge builds, as the Sponge will let you take damage more slowly, whereas Basil will boost your HPr, meaning that a Basil's boost might be sufficient to heal the damage Sponge slowly deals back to you, thus having less chances of dying.
- One of the best builds in the game is using Disc, Cutter, Mythic+ Sponge, five-six Yuccas and one-two Basils as a ram build. Cutter will increase your body damage, while Disc reduces body damage suffered by you, Sponge serves to very slowly take damage, Yuccas serve to rapidly heal you and aid the Sponge, and Basils serve to improve the Yuccas' HPregen. This build will deal a lot of damage to other mobs while suffering nearly no damage. This is also one of the only builds where you don't need to go into offensive mode, meaning that your Yuccas will always heal you. Amulets or Shells could also be used in thw place of one Yucca.
Obtaining[]
- Queen Ant deals half the damage of the Queen Fire Ant and spawns Soldier Ants, who also deal half the damage of Soldier Fire Ants. It's easier to obtain Basils from the normal Queen Ant than from her Fire variation, though it also varies depending on either the time of the server (which one is currently alive) or if you're going for Yucca instead of Leaf, or other smaller factors.
- It is important to note that Queen Ants spawn from Ant Holes in Garden as well, and since it allows Mythic Ant Holes to spawn, Mythic Queen Ants can pop from them, which have a chance of dropping Mythic Basil. As Queen Fire Ants only appear on Fire Ant Hell and not Desert, it can be more difficult to kill more Queen Fire Ants, though taking an Ant Hole down (as well as other Garden mobs) can prove to be tougher than Queen Ant fights in Ant Hell. Plus, Ultra Queen Ants spawn frequently on Ant Hell's Mythic chamber.
- Less advanced players might benefit from Queen Ants spawning as Mythic from an Ant Hole, as, usually, Ant Hell Queen Ant spawn place is too populated for early-mid game players to loot, and since Ant Holes are scattered around and less frequently looked after, said players can attempt to kill the Ant Hole and its spawns completely alone, giving them a chance to get good loot as well as Basil.
Garden
- For maximum Basil efficiency, the petal should be paired with Leaves and Yuccas to quickly recover from the messy battle zone that is Garden, specially when you're deep into the dangerous Spiral zone.
- Basil's healing boost will allow you to quickly recover from an onslaught of Hornet missiles, letting you practically nullify the damage they deal to you. This can be paired with Salt to deal damage back at them while you recover from the HP loss. The same thing can be applied against Spiders, though Lotus might be needed for this case.
- Basil's healing boost is also a nice tool when dealing with loose Bumble Bees, since they can easily deal a big amount of damage to you. Basil could help quickly recovering from that loss and letting you go back to fight without that sudden HP loss.
Desert
- Basil will heavily benefit you here, since Desert presents itself as a highly chaotic zone with many things happening at once, including mobs swarming you, constant HP chipping and always nearing imminent death. Basil will serve to quickly regain HP loss in the sweat of battle, severely reducing your chances of death.
- As a mix of fighting Hornets and Spiders in Garden, Basil will let you recover from a Scorpion's barrage of poisonous missiles more efficiently than normal. Again, Lotus could be of use to mitigate the poison damage. Another mob whose lethality is severely reduced with Basil's boost is the Beetle, which might need more hits in order to counter your HP regen, even though it's a pretty strong mob by itself.
- Basil's healing buff will help dealing with loose Desert Centipedes and Sandstorms in a similar manner to Garden's Bumble Bees, however, even better than in Garden, due to the former mob's high speed and the latter mob's random movement pattern and high body damage.
- As a bonus, the healing buff Basil provides you can be used to neutralize a Soldier Fire Ant's double damage statistic.
Ocean
- Basil's healing buff will be specially welcome in Ocean, not only due to Leeches, which have an absurd amount of speed and can deal a lot of damage to you, but also, primarily, due to Jellyfish. They're one of the most annoying mobs in the game, despite looking weak, as their constant lightning discharges will chip your HP a lot. Basil's buff will help mitigating or even neutralizing it, allowing you to have a better time dealing with their discharges.
- As an example of this, Jellyfish Fields and Leech and Shell zones can be mitigated by the usage of Basil, letting you survive longer against loads of Jellyfish, Leeches and Shell mobs.
- Uranium is a decently good pick for any Ocean zones, as one may willingly want to attract Shell mobs and quickly kill Bubble mobs. If Lotus strategies fail to mitigate the Uranium's self damage characteristic, Basil, as said before, will help in neutralizing it.
Jungle
- Strategies used against Hornets in Garden should be similar to strategies used to fight Wasps in Jungle, specially due to their missiles' zigzag movement pattern.
- Basils can be used to mitigate the loss of Armor caused by a Mantis' pea projectile hitting you. On top of countering the projectiles' damage output themselves, Basil's HP regen buff might negate the Armor stat that you lost. Root could be used in this manner as well.
- Basil's bonus HP regen could also be used to counter the Firefly's lightning discharges, specially since they can be tricky and could end up ramming you (causing their discharges to trigger). Basils will help nullify that extra damage caused by the lightning discharges.
Hel
PvE[]
- One of Basil's main utilities in Hel is countering the damage dealt by Hel Wasp missiles like Hornet and Wasp missiles, except that it happens with even more efficiency, as Hel Wasps fire more missiles per shot, thus Basil is fairly more needed in this case.
- Basil (specially when paired with Lotus) is also good to mitigate or negate the poison damage from a Hel Spider like its base Garden counterpart. It could also serve to quickly regain HP after suffering a massive loss from either the Gambler's dangerous petals or a Hel Beetle's dangerous teleports.
PvP: Using[]
- Just like you would do with PvE interactions, Basil is better utilized when you have at least two healing petals in your build, whereas those healing petals are preferably Leaf and Yucca, since they both heal passively and to full health (in the case of Yucca, only if you're on defensive mode). Strategies with Fangs could also work if you're aiming to heal some portion of your HP while you deplete another one's. Dahlias and Roses shouldn't be used due to their frail nature and the fact that both PvE and PvP in Hel can easily destroy them.
- Basils can boost the efficiency of ram builds (specially those with petals like Cactus) by giving you more HP regen. Alternatively, a build consisting of 9 healing petals and 1 Basil can be used to very quickly recover HP and then prepare a counterattack against someone.
PvP: Against[]
- Regardless if you're fighting a ram/tank build or not, Basils should be countered as if you were fighting a ram/tank build user, as it significantly increases HP regeneration just like a ram/tank build would.
- Be wary that a player with Basil likely has other good petals too, specifically Leaf and Yucca.
- Burst petals like Stinger, status effect petals like Iris and critical hiy petals like Claw or Dice can help in killing a Basil user before its HP boost can do something.
- Using a Mythic and a(n) Ultra/Super Dandelion (or one Legendary- and one Ultra+ with an active Duplicator Talent) will nullify all healing for 15 seconds, leaving Basil (and other healing petals) fully invulnerable for that time frame. During those 15 seconds, try to rush and burst the flower the most that you are able to, letting you kill the Basil user before it can heal back again.
Ant Hell
- Since normal Ant Hell is the easiest place, Basil strategies won't be needed a lot. Still, they can be a nice pick whenever you need to recover from accidental rams, cornered and swarmed situations.
- Fire Ant Hell and Termite Hell, however, are slightly more different. The former zone's mobs having a double damage statistic and the latter zone's mobs having swarming capabilities (due to their Psyonic Connection) could mean trouble for you, critically depleting your HP and possibly even killing you. Basil will help on mitigating those special characteristics efficiently.
Sewers
- Strategies for Garden applied to fight Spiders should be similar for Sewers, as those mobs make a return for this zone. Remember that Lotus is a good pick against them as well.
- Basil can help you in fighting a Roach if they manage to reach your body: more HP regen means more HP gained, and more HP gained means more time to kill a Roach before it kills you. Use that to your advantage.
- Basil can also deal with Flies constantly aggroing at you and even Moths if they catch you off guard and end up ramming you. Both's high damage statistic can be mitigated by Basil's buff, reducing your chances of death.

Trivia[]
- Basil is the first petal whose first rarity is the Mythic rarity. It also used to be the only one, until the release of Third Eye.
- However, there are five petals that only exist at Ultra rarity and beyond in the game: Compass, Corruption, Mimic, Golden Leaf and Moon Rock.
- Basil's appearance might be inspired by legacy florr.io, since it was common at that time for Legendary petals to appear as three petals in one, just like this is three Leaf petals in one (albeit in a different manner, and starting at Mythic rarity instead).
- Basil is the only petal who indirectly heals you: its heal per second statistic is "hidden" through the HP regen buff it proportions to other healing petals.
- Basil is one of the 6 petals to depend on other petals to function (in this case, healing petals). The others are Amulet and Dandelion (which also rely on healing petals), Clover (which relies on Dice) and Lotus and Privet (which rely on poisonous petals).
- Basil, Amulet and Dandelion are the only petals to alter healing petals. This and Amulet do so positively.
- Despite appearing as three petals in one, Basil isn't affected by the Duplicator Talent. This is most likely because its appearance wouldn't modify its function positively or negatively. The other petal that also suffers from this is Clover.
- Basil used to be dropped from Queen Fire Ants, but was replaced with Fragment.
- After an unknown date, Basil lost its damage and health point statistics. This made it phase through enemies without dealing damage to them or suffering any damage itself. The only other petals that do this are Battery and Sponge, while Glass can phase over enemies and can't suffer any damage, but can still deal damage to enemies.
- Curiously, Basil used to have the stats of a Rock of the previous rarity as Basil's own.
