This page is about Magic Cactus. For the normal petal variant, see Cactus.

Magic Cactus is a magic petal from florr.io. Its function consists of increasing the maximum amount of Mana you can hold at once. Magic Cactus is dropped by Cactus mobs.

Appearance[]

Magic Cactus, for the most part, is based off Cactus: it consists of an eight-sized petal with spikes on the ends. The sides slightly curve to reveal the spikes. To indicate that it's a magic petal, its body is cyan, with an even lighter blue on its center and a darker blue on its borders.

Magic Cactus mostly functions similarly to its base version. However, being a magic petal, it works around Mana Points, rather than Health Points. Magic Cactus increases the maximum amount of your current MP by the amount that is indicated in the petal stats. It also costs no Mana itself, as it's meant to generate MP. Due to this, Magic Cactus takes one second to reload.

Obtainment[]

This is a magic petal, meaning mobs only drop this if you have Mana Orb active. It replaces Cactus' drop rates.

Strategies[]

  • Magic Cactus is an important tool in Mana builds, letting you have far more MP than the initial limit, allowing your MP builds to be even more effective while you take longer to exhaust your MP.
  • Magic Cacti must be used with at least one Mana Orb, or your MP will be too low for a good magic petal build to work.
  • Magic Cacti are a must in Magic Eye builds, seeing as the former can provide even more MP for the latter's damage output to be stronger. This also means that you'll have more MP after Magic Eye consumes half of your current value.
  • Magic Cactus is also required for Magic Bubble builds, as their ability can quickly drain your MP supply.
  • Magic Leaf is a very good petal to pair with Magic Cacti, as not only it regens the MP to the new limit imposed by Magic Cacti, but also they will quickly heal to the new limit, giving the user more MP to use per second.
  • By itself, Magic Cactus has pretty tanky stats, meaning that it could somewhat tank some stuff.

Garden

  • The Magic Cacti and Magic Eye combo cab cause chaos in Garden, with the latter being able to deal considerably immense damage to the targeted mobs due to the extra MP.
  • One can also build a Blueberries spam build with some Magic Cacti and Magic Leaves to keep the MP at a high value. This will let you to have a massive area control build that also does a nice amount of damage to all enemies hit by the individual Blueberries.
  • Magic Cactus can also be a good tool in Magic Stinger builds, since it's pretty fragile and can die to Hornet missiles pretty quickly. Magic Cacti will let them respawn instantly for a longer time before needing to regen MP.

Desert

  • Magic Eye is a pretty prominent petal in Desert, due to the presence of Desert Centipedes, Fire Ant Burrows and clumped up mobs whereas the petal can deal a lot of damage to some enemies with the lightning bounces. As such, Magic Cactus will further increase its value.
  • For the same reason, Magic Cactus can also be used in Blueberries spam builds for a lower MP cost in exchange for a lower damage output.
  • Players can also pair Magic Cacti with some Magic Missiles to snipe mobs from afar more often, including Sandstorms and Scorpions, which can be taken out with ranged petal strategies.

Obtaining[]

  • Strategies used for farming normal Cacti can also be used when farming Magic Cacti, as they're dropped by the same mob (Cactus mob).
  • Lower rarity Magic Cacti can be easily farmed in the Cactus zone, just a bit above the Desert spawn area. The high density of Cactus mobs allow you to get a lot of Magic Cacti at once.
  • For higher rarity Magic Cacti, players can try to venture into the Mythic mob corridor (and the Ultra mob section in it), the Ultra mob chamber and the Desert Split Path area.
  • Cactus mobs are pretty tough, so one needs to deal a burst petal to take it out quicker, like Stinger. Armor-bypassing petals with a lot of DPS, like Iris, can also be used.
  • The most dangerous part of killing Cactus mobs is when another mob forces you to move near it, potentially killing you if you touch the Cactus mob as it has a high damage statistic. Be aware of your surroundings at all costs to avoid ramming them.

Ocean

  • Magic Eye builds can be useful in Ocean, being used to kill Jellyfish from a safe range, outdamage Starfish mobs' healing and shine in high density areas. Once again, Magic Cacti serve to boost the builds' performance.
  • With Magic Cacti, Blueberries and Magic Eye are also useful tools to bypass Shell mobs' armor, which makes them pretty tough to kill.
  • Magic Stinger can shine with the aid of Magic Cacti, dealing a lot of damage to all mobs nearby, letting you progress pretty easily.

Jungle

  • With the high density of extremely dangerous Jungle mobs, like Mantises and Wasps, Magic Cotton is useful in increasing your survivability in the area. Once again, Magic Cactus boosts the magic petal in question's performance, letting Magic Cotton absorb even more damage for you.
  • Magic Eye shines in dealing a lot of damage to mobs close to each other, while Blueberries take advantage in the high mob density of the area. This means that Magic Cactus will be even better in the meta.
  • Magic Missile can also somewhat let you hit mobs from afar, avoiding getting close to their projectiles/body. This is specially useful against Mythic+ Wasps, where you can avoid their missiles just by staying still (of course, this can't be done if there's any mob other than Wasps).

Hel

PvE[]

  • Magic Eye and Magic Missile can snipe mobs from afar, letting you take low to no damage from them, which could save you a lot specially in this scenario. As such, Magic Cactus is also required for them.
  • With Magic Cactus, Magic Stingers can help you a lot against Hel Beetles and Hel Spiders that are too close to you but not hitting you yet, as when they start hitting you, you lose a lot of HP at once.
  • Blueberries are also pretty decent in dealing with swarms of Hel mobs everywhere.
  • Magic Cacti paired with Magic Cotton will help you increase survivability in this zone as well.

PvP: Using[]

  • Magic Cactus paired with Magic Leaf can be useful in a lot of PvP interactions. More specifically:
    • Blueberries deal decent damage to a player, while letting you damage multiple players/mobs at once;
    • Magic Bubble can make you unpredictable, meaning that the opponent has to predict your opponents to have a chance of killing you in combat;
    • Magic Cotton can help you survive longer, specially if your HP is being chipped or a good chunk of it is depleted per attack;
    • Magic Eye can deal an immense amount of damage to an opponent at once. If they use Rubber to mitigate the lightning damage, attack the petal and then strike the user, or just chip the player's HP slowly;
    • Magic Missile can strike other flowers from afar without risking close range combat;
    • Magic Stinger can deal an immense amount of damage as well, but only if you open the way for the petal to directly attack the opponent, or the petal will die by other petals before hitting the enemy.
  • Magic Cactus by itself is pretty strong, meaning that it will take some damage before dying. Magic Leaves also deal somewhat good damage.

PvP: Against[]

  • Depending on what magic petals your opponent pairs with Magic Cactus, you must plan your strategies accordingly.
  • Getting Cactus and healing petals to quickly recover from your enemy's strategies is crucial. Usually, using ranged petals can also be a good choice.
  • If your opponent is using ranged magic petals, try to use something like a Plank (against Magic Missile) or Rubber (against Magic Eye). Blueberries can be ignored as long as you have good healing and deal more damage to the enemy.
  • In the case of Magic Bubbles, exhaust your opponent's MP storage quickly, making them unable to use the petals and enabling you to predict and hit them with more ease.

Ant Hell

  • Magic Cactus can be useful in some Ant Hell scenarios. For example, Blueberries and Magic Eye can deal with the swarms of Ants/Termites, letting you avoid getting swarmed by them with no chance to escape.
  • Magic Cactus + Magic Stinger builds will allow you to deal massive damage to any of the three Ant Hell bosses, increasing your chances of getting loot from them.
  • Magic Cactus + Magic Cotton builds will increase your survivability in Fire Ant Hell, as its high density and less space to travel (specially during Queen Fire Ant fights) makes you take a lot of damage, which is dangerous considering Fire Ants' double damage properties.

Sewers

  • Magic Bubble builds will help you travel efficiently in this area. Be ware of the mob density and the high MP cost, though.
  • Magic Stick can be a great AFK tool as well as a Sewers mob clearing tool. However, it also costs a lot of MP to respawn, summon the Sandstorms and maintain them, so Magic Cactus alongside Magic Leaf and it can help with the total MP cost.
  • Once again, Magic Cactus + Magic Eye builds will allow you to deal insane damage to mobs like Flies and Roaches without letting them get too dangerous. Blueberries are not as good due to their low damage output.

Trivia[]

  • When initially released, Magic Cactus's MP buff used to increase in an arithmetic progression, increasing max MP by 25 with each rarity (Common Magic Cactus had a +25 MP increase). Later, it was nerfed to only a +20 MP increase. Finally, after the mana rework, the progression was changed to a geometric one, with each rarity doubling the max MP increase (Common Magic Cactus has a +247.5 MP increase).
    • In January 1st, 2025, Magic Cactus' MP buff was nerfed to 46.666…% ((140/3)%) of the original value. Common Cactus now gives 115.5 extra MP instead of 247.5 extra MP.
  • Magic Cactus and Magic Bubble are the only magic petals that are dropped by a mob that has the same name as their shortened name.
  • Magic Cactus' health is triple its damage output.
