Not to be confused with other variations.
The Desert Centipede is a mob that spawns in Desert. It has multiple segments and is a passive mob, becoming hostile when attacked.
Appearance[]
Its front head is a khaki-yellow circle with 2 black circles on its side and a pair of antennae. Its other segments are the same, the only difference being that they have no antennae.
Stats & Behavior[]
Speed: The Desert Centipede is the third fastest mob in the game, after the Leech and Roach (respectively).
Behavior: It moves randomly in any direction, changing direction when it hits the edge of the map. When a Desert Centipede gets split into multiple parts, or a part gets its head destroyed, any new parts go in a random direction if it is Rare rarity or below. Every few seconds, the centipede can go "under the sand", which is when they turn greyed out and aren't able to attack or be attacked.
It has the same stats as the regular Centipede.

Strategy[]
These are not dangerous on their own, but they can go in front of players when being chased by other mobs and block the way. Epic+ Desert Centipedes can be dangerous because they become aggressive with an alarming speed. You can easily stop them running away by using Uranium, but beware as they can still chase you at high speed.

Trivia[]
- It used to be a fully passive mob that wouldn't attack at any rarity like the Baby Ant. However, it is now neutral at Epic+ tiers.
- If it is below Rare rarity, then when a segment is killed, it changes direction, similar to the Garden Centipede.
- Before the Jungle Update came out, Ultra+ Desert Centipedes didn't spawn.
- The Desert Centipede's incredible speed is partially a reference to its real life counterpart, Scolopendra heros.
- The Desert Centipede is the first mob that can go underground, the second is Worm.
