Corn is a legacy petal from florr.io added on the November 2nd, 2020 update. Its respawn is very long and it deals low damage, but it has high health. The Corn is dropped by Worker Ants and Worker Fire Ants.

Appearance[]

Corn looks like a yellow tooth-shaped form, and its borders are even more yellow, resembling a piece of corn.

Function[]

Petal Stats
Rarity Obtainable? Damage Health Respawn
Common Yes 5 300 7 seconds
Unusual 15 900
Rare 45 2700
Epic 135 8100

Ultra 3645 218700
Super 10935 656100
Unique 32805 1968300

Corn acts as a tougher version of the Heavy, having even more durability; however, the upgrade comes with downsides: a smaller hitbox and less damage on top of nearly the same cool down

Strategy[]

  • Corn's damage and respawn time are pitiful, but its high health means that it's a super tough shield to get through. It can pierce through almost anything and deals a lot of damage through multi-hitting. Using Bur with a few Corns can be extremely effective as every time the Corn hits a debuffed mob it will hurt harder, making for a useful combo.
  • Although the long respawn means players should be prepared for long periods of not having it, this can greatly be solved by the Reload Talent, which can bring the Corn's cooldown to 5 seconds (still pretty long, but at least it's half the time needed).
  • It also deals decent knockback, which is useful for diverting any and all projectiles away from your demise or pushing away mobs that are too close to you.

Garden

  • Corn's high durability allows you to pierce through Ant Holes and their spawned Ants, as well as destroy multiple segments of a Centipede one at a time.
  • Pushing away Spiders is a very good thing, specially if you can't endure their poison damage and/or body damage. However, Heavy might do a better work against them due to their higher damage (despite their lower HP).
  • Corn will also aid you in diverting Hornet missiles that otherwise would deplete your health and put you in danger.

Desert

Ocean

  • Same strategies can apply here as they were in Garden and Desert.
  • Jellyfish have pitiful body damage, so as long as you can handle their lightning discharges, or use Rubber to absorb them, Corn is a good petal against them.
  • Crabs and Leeches will be pushed away from your body so you don't risk dying to them. Leeches are also lethal once they get close to you.
  • Ultra+ Shells' Pearl projectiles might counter Corn, but lower rarity Shells are quite weak to them.

Ant Hell

  • Corn is very good here, as Ants and Termites have the base Damage statistic, allowing Corn to deal a LOT of hits.
  • This can also be used to get a surprise Baby Ant/Baby Fire Ant/Baby Termite hatched from their respective Eggs away from killing you by surprise, though this might not work at higher rarities.

Obtaining[]

  • Worker Ants deal less damage than Worker Fire Ants. The same is true for every normal Ant compared to their Fire counterparts. Thus, if you happen to get rammed, your chances of surviving are greater, and all petals will have more chance to deal damage as well.
  • However, both of these areas have chambers where quite a lot of Worker and Fire Worker Ants spawn in high rarities. Getting Corns from there is a good idea. Thus, it's more efficient if you farm in Ant Hell instead of looking for Ant Holes in Garden (as Worker Fire Ants don't spawn in Desert for Fire Ant Burrows).

Hel

Using[]

  • Corn permits you to kill all glass petals(not literally), including the dangerous Stinger. The Corn's high HP also means it can pierce through almost anything and end up hitting and knockbacking the user, which is beneficial if you negate any damage your opponent might've caused you.
    • However, its very low damage makes it nearly useless in potentially stopping other petals from hitting you. While it can pierce through petals, it probably won't damage enough to destroy them, so some petals might still hit the user.
  • This petal is perfect when countering Hel Wasps as their missiles are smaller than average. Pushing away all other Hel mobs when they're too close to you will also help you in the long run.
  • Corn is also a great contender against Gamblers as it pierces through the petals they carry, negating Cards and Dice. However, Chips may survive due to their high (70%) evasion chance.

Against[]

  • This petal is a smaller Heavy with better HP and worse damage, so similar strategies apply.
  • Combating this with weak petals with a quick respawn timer such as Fasters, Lights and Rice might exhaust the Corn, letting you attack the Corn user in the open space.
  • Avoid using any and all glass petals to counter it, as they'll die quickly and the Corn will survive. Instead, try using Heavy, Glass, Rock and other durable/piercing petals to hit the user.
  • Plank can also be used to kill Corns with more efficiency, or Glass to pierce through it entirely.
  • Bones of one rarity higher can also destroy the Corn without taking any damage.

Jungle

  • This is also a favourable scenario for the Corn. Most mobs are weak to it, specially Evil Centipedes, while also piercing through Termites in Termite Mounds, dealing just enough damage for most Leafbug rarities and helping in blocking Mantis projectiles.
  • However, using this against normal Wasps is pretty redundant, as their missiles are zig-zagged, thus either bypassing Corn or missing the target anyways.

Sewers

  • Another great place for Corn, as not only Spiders return in here, but also Flies and Roaches are there so the Corn can knock them back and keep them at bay.
  • Corn strategies should be a little different for Moth, though. You WANT to target it, not push it back, so either gain knockback distance with Bubbles or don't use Corn at all with them. Moths are still fragile, so maybe Corn has the potential to kill them quickly.

Trivia[]

  • Multi-hitting allows petals like Corn to deal high amounts of knockback.
  • This petal has the second-most health out of any petal.
    • Before the petals were reworked, it had the highest health. Now, that title goes to Moon Rock.
  • This petal ties with Heavy and Stinger for the second longest constant respawn timer at 10 seconds each. All of these are legacy petals (although the Heavy has a different name there). The longest constant respawn timer goes to Moon Rock and Square at 60 seconds each.
    • A constant respawn timer is one that doesn't change between any rarity. Ankh at the Common rarity has the longest respawn timer out of anything, at 256 seconds, while Ant Eggs and Beetle Eggs can reach a cooldown beyond 60 seconds at Super rarity. However, petals like those have variable respawn timers: Ankh's cooldown decreases with each rarity increase, while the Eggs' cooldown increase. Meanwhile, Corn, Heavy and Stinger all stay at 10 seconds through every rarity, and Moon Rock and Square stay at 60 seconds. Since they don't change on rarity, it's a constant number.
  • This petal does the second-least damage out of all of the offensive petals. The first is its opposite twin, Rice.
  • In legacy florr.io, this petal was added alongside Rice.
  • In legacy florr.io, Corn was arguably the most useless petal in the entire game, even worse than the Fast and the Basic petals of that version, due to it's extremely low damage, slow reload and small size.
  • Before the re-release of the game, Corn used to be much smaller, and was dropped at Epic rarity.
  • It is the 2nd petal that is based on a vegetable. The others are Carrot, Grapes (technically) and Peas. Corn, Grapes and Peas all are legacy petals, although Grapes has a different name on said version.
