Dahlia is a legacy petal from florr.io. It is composed of 3 individual and small Rose petals in one petal slot, thus having each of them heal less, but all three of them combined will heal you for just about half of a Rose. The Dahlia is dropped by the Dark Ladybug and the Shiny Ladybug.

Appearance[]

Dahlia looks like 3 smaller Rose petals grouped together into a triangular shape, but it doesn't reduce the amount of space between petals, unlike other multiple-petals-in-one-slot like Light, meaning that the mini Roses stay close to each other.

Function[]

Note: The "A + B" respawn format means that the petal takes A seconds to respawn and B seconds after respawning to do its special action/have its special action enabled.

Dahlia heals its user and allied flowers with its mini Roses. After the cooldown timer, the petal is "consumed" by the player, who gains a certain amount of HP. It can't be given to friendly mobs, like the Digger. Its HP/sec (Healing Points per second) describes how fast the user will be healed. This is useful for comparison to other healing petals. Note that, unlike passive healers, for example Leaf, this petal does not give constant heal, instead, it's in bursts (when the player "consumes" the Dahlia, whereas burst refers to instant heal in this case). Dahlia will spend 1.5 seconds orbiting the flower before healing you (if you're damaged). Dahlia can't go in offensive mode, but can go into defensive. Dahlia can be affected by the Duplicator Talent which gives one more mini Rose for the petal.

Strategy[]

  • Despite looking more or less just like the normal Rose, Dahlia has two advantages over it. One, Dahlia's more defensive than Rose, as there are three (and potentially four) mini Roses in one petal slot, which can be used by the Dahlia as a whole to tank more hits for you before dying. Two, at least one mini Rose will heal you if the others happen to be destroyed. Don't rely on those facts, though: the situations vary.
  • Just like Rose, the biggest problem Dahlia has is that advanced players will find themselves chased by mobs very often. Mobs chasing them will almost always be on the player's orbiting radius, which means all petals will constantly get killed by it, thus not letting Dahlia to help you, making picks like Leaf and Yucca more useful.
    • Something you could do to prevent this is to use petals like Jelly or Corn to push away mobs, Bubbles to push you away and healing only while you're out of combat.
  • Dahlia is generally preferred over Rose when used with the Duplicator talent, though Rose still has a slightly higher healing per second.

Obtaining[]

  • Shiny Ladybugs are very rare, thus kind of unreliable for getting Dahlias. Instead, hunt Dark Ladybugs, as they spawn frequently in Jungle and provide you a nice amount of Dahlias.

Garden

  • Dahlia, while outclassed by passive heals most of the time, can be used to tank some Hornet missiles, however, the timing needs to be precise. You can use Yin Yang to time it, and then follow up with attacker petals, however, this is hard to do as Yin Yang strategies in general are hard to master, plus, better petals can be used for the same strategy.
  • Against Spiders, it's best if you use Leaves to quickly heal from any poison status it may have caused, as Dahlia may hit the Spider before it even tries to heal, plus it may not heal enough to save you from death.

Desert

  • Dahlia is also pretty unwelcome in Desert. Not only do Beetles quickly catch up to your petal orbiting radius (and may kill you if that happens), but Scorpions are also bad for Dahlia: while Epic or lower rarity Scorpions shoot stingers once before attempting to ram, Legendary+ Scorpions will constantly fire stingers at you. Dahlia will either defend them weakly or you'll get poisoned and not heal enough to survive. This is not to mention Sandstorms which are usually 0HKO if you don't bring Disc with you.

Ocean

  • Dahlias versus Jellyfish can go both ways: either Jellyfish damage you once, Dahlias heal you for a bit, then Jellyfish outdamage and kill you, or Dahlias hold just enough to outheal them (be sure to upgrade your Duplicator and/or Reload Talent trees for that). A swarm of Jellyfish will always result in you dying, though, unless you're assisted by Rubber.
  • This doesn't work against a Leech: it goes too fast for you to heal back with a Dahlia. Also, be sure to watch out for Crabs or Ultra+ Shells whose abilities can shred your Dahlias.

Ant Hell

  • Dahlias are the most/least beneficial here, as you'll maintain a considerable distance from all Ants, but that also means there won't be much to heal. Still, this could somewhat help you against Termites surrounding you.
  • Dahlias may be useful when you enter Termite Mounds, as you can may be able to spend some seconds healing yourself while no other mobs are attacking you.

Hel

Using[]

  • Facing Hel Beetles and Hel Spiders are as detrimental as their base versions. Facing Gamblers is also a bad idea because their petals hit too hard for Dahlia to be a reliable outhealer.
  • This can be used to somewhat tank Hel Wasp missiles, as they're more or less weaker than base Wasps.
  • In PvP, using this can be considered an underdog challenge, as Dahlia's a weak petal for defense and offense alike against other players.

Against[]

  • The Dahlia has little to no usage in the meta due to its weak stats. Destroying this with tanky petals like Heavy, outdamaging its user with petals like Stinger and sniping it with petals like Missiles will do the job just fine against them. Also, note that all mobs in Hel can easily destroy opposing Dahlias for you, creating a weak spot which can be used to target the flower.

Jungle

  • Dahlias might be useful when shielding Mantis projectiles as they're naturally weaker than most other projectiles. However, Wasp projectiles are trivial, since their zigzag movement might ignore them. Also, this is ineffective against Leafbugs due to their high Armor stat.

Sewers

  • Dahlia's completely useless here, as Flies, Roaches and Spiders will constantly degrade them here, and Moths hardly damage you anyways.

Trivia[]

  • Dahlia is a split version of the Rose.
  • Dahlia was originally called Rose (Rare) on legacy florr as a Rare variation of the current Rose petal, but functioning the same as modern day Dahlia (old Rose was Unusual). It has since been renamed to the current name, and drops from Unusual rarity instead of Rare.
    • Despite the changes, it still gets to be dropped by the main legacy mobs that dropped this, which are Dark and Shiny Ladybugs, except the Massive Ladybug, which has been removed in favour of Epic+ Ladybugs.
    • In both the Dahlia's and the Rose's case, it's probably because of the rarity of the Shiny Ladybugs.
  • Dahlia is used to refer to this petal as a whole, Dahlias is the plural of the petal as a whole and mini Rose is used to refer to the miniature variation of the three Rose petals that compose the Dahlia.
