The Fly looks like a larger body of Baby Ant (without the pincers) with 2 smaller wings.
Stats & Behavior[]
Speed: Mid-Fast until sees a flower. When a flower gets in range, it moves at the same speed (and in the same pattern) as an aggressive Bee. They can evade hits.
Common-Legendary Flies are most likely easy to kill, you can use some missiles or some good damage petals to handle them.
Use high-reload low-damage petals like Rice or Light or even better, poisonous petals such as Iris instead of high-damage low-reload petals like Stinger.
Mythic Flies are pretty strong and must be treated with heavies or ultra bones.
Since Flies team with Spiders, you may need Anti-Spider strategy.
This strategy is by killing many Flies as possible to prevent them from helping Spiders, and avoiding death by touching Spiders.
If the Anti-Spider strategy fails because of Roach crashing into you, try not to attack the roach.
When being chased, stick to the walls as you flee in a straight line. Flies move in a wavy pattern and will bump into the wall, which slows them down to manageable speeds. Don't actively press yourself against the wall, as that will slow you down.
This wall trick alone is not enough to make Flies slower than your speed (without Powder), so use repelling petals like Jelly and Heavy, or slowing petals like Pincers and Webs.
Since Flies can evade hits, you need to pray your attacks hit or you’ll have an even harder time getting rid of them. It is not recommended ramming them, as they can evade collisions, too. Lightning and Poison damage can bypass fly evasion.
Flies can be annoying when using Sticks, because before the ally Sandstorms spawn the Flies can destroy your sticks and can end up killing you. It’s best to use something to prevent them from destroying the Sticks such as Jelly, Pincer or even Honey.
If you are mainly using summons, it's best to use Ant Eggs as more ants can hit the fly and, therefore, increase chance of actually hitting the Fly.
When using a ramming build against Flies, Body Toxicity is absolutely essential as the poison will bypass flies' evasion. But don't ram straight at the fly, instead constantly move away from it to maximize poison damage and minimize damage taken to the flower, though this is only really useful in Mythic or less dense Ultra Sewers tunnels where mob density isn't nearly as overwhelming as the box (Ultra/Super zone).
Flies have low health but high body damage and only take 10% of the hits you give them, effectively decupling their maximum health. However, ramming builds with Body Toxicity work well and petals such as Pincer, Iris, Lightning, and Battery can take them down quickly and efficiently. Alternatively, a deathwheel or a Rice build will take them out eventually.

Trivia[]
On May 8, 2024 update, Wing drop rates were temporarily removed from the Fly, but it was added back ever since.
Despite looking somewhat like a Soldier Ant and having the same body damage, the Fly is not an Ant mob and does not spawn in Ant Holes, rather being another species.
Flies are the second mobs to have the lowest health, with the first being Bubble.
The Super Fly spawn message is now "A Super Fly has Spawned (somewhere)!, but it used to be "A buzzing noise echoes through the sewer tunnels".
This is the only Super spawn message that doesn't end with an ellipsis symbol.
As part of an update that occurred on December 21, 2024, the HP of the Fly was reduced by 80%, while its evasion stat was increased from 50% to 90%.
Its recent stats are same as Hornet/Wasp missile stats, but with armor.
Flies have an ability to dodge your petals to not take damage from them with a 90% chance. This is called their Evasion ability.
It could be a reference that Flies move fast in real life, and has about 6,000 ommatidia on each eye.
Fly, Talisman of Evasion and Poker Chip all have Evasion stats, with the Fly evasion applying to mob itself, Talisman's to the user and Poker Chip's to the petal itself. The Fly and Poker Chip has the same evasion stat (90%), target effect and is always active unlike Talisman.
