Gambler

The Gambler is a mob that spawns in Hel.

Appearance[]

The Gambler appears as a dark red flower with huge eyes, likely from too much gambling in such a dark place.

Stats & Behavior[]

Speed: Normal.

Behavior: Hostile to any entity it sees, whether other mobs or players. Gamblers will even attack each other. It uses Cards, Chips, Dice, Domino and a Clover to attack, much like a petal. It will try to remain at the right distance from the enemy for its petals to hit it, rather than ramming. Common Gamblers use 5 petals, and each higher rarity has an extra petal used, maxing at 10 with the Mythic Gambler.

Sometimes, the Gambler says something random while exploring the map. Its chat bubble is green, like the trader. The Gambler has around 10 identified lines and this currently shows the list of confirmed lines that they say:

Super+ Gamblers have ability to corrupt nearby flowers, enable PvP to other flowers despite others being corrupted or not.

Strategy[]

  • Gamblers have higher drop rates than other mobs in Hel, alongside with their XP reward.
  • You can use the Hel mobs to your advantage, by luring them to the gambler. But be careful as this can backfire on you.
  • You can also use the gambler to kill other Hel mobs, such as Hel Beetles and Hel Spiders.
  • Gamblers are one of the best ways to get Hel petals (excluding Dark Mark) due to its high drop rates. You should prioritize killing these over other players and mobs if its loot is worth it. However, the Gambler's high health and a presence of other players also trying to get loot makes it dangerous.

Super Gambler[]

  • Super Gamblers can be dangerous due to the petals it uses to attack, so it is recommended to refer the strategies above.
    • Do not try to come close to a Gambler, since that will easily overwhelm you. And since PvP is enabled in Hel, some players can attack and kill you for their high drops than most mobs in Hel.

Trivia[]

  • Gamblers are the only mobs to spawn in Hel that do not drop Mark.
  • After Domino petal was added, it replaced the Mythic Chip (purple) position in Gambler gallery.
  • After the Domino petal addition, this became the first mob to ever have 5 petal drops in the game since Legacy.
    • Right now, they are the only mobs at the moment to have 5 petal drops.
  • Somewhere in March 2025 update, a change was made that Gamblers had lower XP gain and drop rates. However, the Corruption drop rate remained unchanged.
    • Back then, many people came to Gambler to obtain Ultras and XP from Super variants.
  • When Gamblers was released, people can kill it to get the Devil's Advocate achievement as they were used to include for this list. However, due to how easy it is to get, gamblers do not include for this achievement as of an update of mid-2024.
  • Before the 29th May 2024 update, The Gambler was a Special Entity that did nothing but wander around the map.
  • Gamblers and Mecha Flower are one of the only mobs in the game that has the ability to use petals the same way that a flower does.
  • Its description references the Corruption petal as you can become this mob with it.
    • As of now, Gamblers are the only mobs that you can become.
    • Corruption implies that Gamblers were flowers before their souls have been corrupted beyond repair (implied by their lock-on ability) by gambling. It also implies the existence of skulls, at least for flowers and/or Gamblers. The existence of skulls can further be proved by Bone.
      • Unique Corruption implies that the corruption is contagious, possibly meaning that everything in Hel may be under the influence of Corruption.
  • Gamblers are one of two mobs to have speech lines, the other is Target Dummy.
  • Despite Gamblers having Clover, neither Hel mobs or the Gambler itself drop Clover.
