Poker Chip, shortened in-game to Chip, is a petal from florr.io. Much like other Hel petals, Chip has an exclusive RNG mechanic: a chance to evade damage dealt to it, and the Plinko menu. The Chip is dropped by Gamblers, Hel Centipedes and Hel Wasps.

Appearance[]

A small, circular token with coloured lines around the middle. The lines are always white, except on Common rarity, where they are blue. The main color of the Chip changes each rarity. The changes are, respectively, from Common to Unique: white, red, blue, lime green, black, purple, yellow, gray, and orange.

Function[]

Common Yes 5 48 1 2.5 seconds 90%
Unusual 15 144 3
Rare 45 432 9
Epic 135 1,296 27
Legendary 405 3,888 81
Mythic 1215 11,664 243
Ultra 3645 34,992 729
Super 10935 104,976 2,187
Unique 32805 314,928 6,561

The Poker Chip deals half the base damage, and it has a chance to evade damage taken from mobs, similar to the Talisman, except it's only applicable for itself. The Chip can also be inserted in the Plinko menu to be gambled, for a chance of either multiplying itself (by 1, 2, 3, 5, 20 or 500 for each individual Chip inserted) or losing a single Chip (multiplication by 0). All Chips of all rarities that have been inserted into Plinko are subject to that. The Chip's rarity will not affect chance of evasion or chance of getting higher multipliers.

Purchasing[]

Unlike most other petals, Chip can't be purchased in the Shop.

Strategy[]

  • The petal stats, by themselves, are completely horrible and would be outclassed by most petals if Chip didn't have Evasion. It has the highest DPS outside of Rice, Claw, Iris and Uranium, which all have specific quirks to them that limit their usefulness.

Garden

  • As it has Evasion, Chip is useful for tanking Hornet missiles, handling Ant Holes and Centipedes and fending off Spiders.
  • Using this to defend yourself against normal mobs is also a nice idea, so you don't risk dying while running.

Desert

  • Higher rarity Chips will tank even more hits. This is crucial against Beetles, pathways with many Fire Ant Burrows surrounding you, Desert Centipedes with their segments and tanking Scorpion stingers.
    • Chips are less reliable with Scorpion stings than they are with Hornet missiles. Be prepared to either bring lots of healing petals, or Lotus with some healing petals, or just use something else.

Ocean

  • You don't have ranged mobs whose missiles can be blocked with high rarity Chips, (Ultra+ Shells' Pearls will likely just bypass or tank them). However, they still prove quite helpful against Crabs and specially Leeches who risk killing you.

Ant Hell

  • Much like Ocean, high rarity Chips serve to fend off close mobs instead of tanking ranged attacks. Therefore, you'll have a better time fighting Ants, specially Termites (dealing huge damage to all of them collectively), and not risking dying.

Hel

Using[]

  • This works similarly to a healthy petal such as Bone, Heavy and Rock. However, its 90% evasion chance will greatly increase its survivability against not only other players, but also Hel mobs.
  • It is recommended to use this against mobs with high body damage, as other health petals might not be able to hit the mobs more than once, limiting their damage output.
  • This petal can be used in tandem with Bur to get even more damage dealt at once.
  • Aside from flowers themselves (and potential Missiles), this can tank Hel Wasp's projectiles and every other Hel mob (due to their speed) quite well. It isn't that reliable, but still.

Against[]

  • Due to its low damage, Chip is not particularly threatening against other players.
  • However, it also has increased survivability by having a 90% evasion chance. Bursting it may not be the best idea, and targeting weak spots while dodging the Chip itself is generally a better choice.
  • As the user is likely to tank Hel mobs with it, your best bet is waiting for other mobs to destroy it, then attacking the flower on your own. Beware of aggroing the mobs, however.
  • Try to kill a Chip user with ranged petals like Third Eye or Wing to not risk getting severely hurt.

Obtaining[]

  • As it can't be bought from the shop, the only way to get the Chip is farming for them in the Hel zone (mobs or Plinko). Beware of mobs and players alike.

Versus Mobs[]

  • Gamblers are dangerous, not only due to their usage of Chips, but also due to their Cards and Dice which can be equally as alarming. Use ranged petals such as Missile or Wing to safely hit them. Alternatively, try to get a Gamble locked on another player (who's preferably running), bypass its petal range and attack it like you're going to ram the Gambler (or use a ram build).
  • Hel Wasps can be dangerous if you get overwhelmed by their shotgun missiles, specially if you run into other mobs while dodging them. They also have big aggro ranges, which means they will continuously cluster up on you. This does mean you can get more Chips, but be sure to handle them accordingly.
  • Hel Centipedes are somewhat reliable: they are common, they have multiple segments and are considerably weak (but faster than you), but they have low droprates. Farming them for Chips for Plinko or personal usage isn't that bad, but also isn't that good.
  • Overall, Gamblers and Hel Wasps are more dangerous but more reliable for Chips. Hel Centipedes can be used to get Chips without much fight, but their drop rates can get unreliable most of the times.

Plinko[]

  • It's not recommended to gamble if you are not after the achievements. The expected number of chips you get by rolling one into the Plinko is
  • As the mathematical expectation is slightly lower than one, if you always keep gambling all your chips, the chance to lose all of them is 100% according to the Law of Large Numbers.

Jungle

  • Chip should not be used here. The damage is particularly low and will be of little use against Leafbugs, and it will not defend against Mantis peas due to their high HP.

Sewers

  • The Chip's reliability in surviving and evading will allow you to keep Roaches and Spiders away from you, while dealing huge damage to weak mobs like Flies and Moths.

Trivia[]

  • The old description used to read "Feeling lucky?" as a reference to Plinko.
  • The Chip and Plinko are a reference to real-life gambling games, as normally chips are used to bet high values into certain games (such as card games), while Plinko is more of a representation of multiplier machines.
  • At common rarity, it has the same durability as Bubble.
  • This was one of the many petals to be added unannounced in the changelog.
  • This and the Talisman are the only petals related to Evasion. While Chip itself uses Evasion, the Talisman gives you an Evasion chance instead.
  • Raysoup was the first player to get Super Poker Chip.
  • This is one of two petals to have a different appearance on each rarity, the other being Beetle Egg.
    • Rare Chip is the only one to match the rarity’s color.
    • Unusual, Epic, Mythic, Ultra and Super Chips have the color of the Legendary, Common, Epic, Unusual and Unique rarities, respectively.
    • Common, Legendary and Unique Chips don't have the color of any rarity.
      • Unique Chip's color is Ultra rarity's temporary color after it's original color and before it's current color.
    • The colors of the Mythic, Ultra and Super rarities are the only ones that none of the Chips have.
  • Chip, Card, Corruption and Dice are the only petals exclusive to Hel.
    • Chip, Card and Dice are all involved with Luck: Chip has a 90% chance of evasion, as well as being infamous for Plinko, Card changes its stats every time it respawns and Dice changes into a random number of pips and has a critical hit chance.
      • All three of them plus Glass and Rock change appearance regardless of rarity. However, the Chip only does so while passing rarities, while Card, Dice and Glass do it regardless of rarity.
  • Chip, Air, Card, Compass, Corruption, Dahlia, Dice and Rose are tied for the highest drop chance of an Ultra petal from a Super mob at 64.3%.
    • All mentioned petals plus Missile, and Pollen are the only petals to have a higher chance to drop at Ultra rarity (64.3% for said petals, 58.4% for Missile and Pollen) than at Mythic rarity (35.7% for said petals minus Compass and Corruption, 41.6% for Missile and Pollen) by the Super rarity variation of the mob that drops this (Gambler for the Hel petals, Bubble Mob for Air, Termite Overmind for Compass, Shiny Ladybug for Dahlia and Rose, Hel Wasp and Wasp for Missile and Bumble Bee for Pollen).
    • In the case of the Hel petals, it's due to the fact that Gamblers are pretty rare and very strong.
  • Chip, Basic, Coin, Square and Mjölnir are the only petals that cannot be bought from the Shop.
    • In Chip's case, this is probably to prevent winning Plinko with real money purchases.
  • On November 4th, 2024, the Chip's evasion chance was nerfed from 75% to 70% (a 6.66% evasion chance nerf). This update heavily nerfs Chip's dps(an original Ul Chip build has 233k dps but now only 186k dps).
    • On 24th December 2024, Chip's evasion chance is buffed to 90% but its base damage is reduced to 5.
  • Unique Poker Chip now deal 32.8k damage.
  • Poker Chip update make it gets a different DPS.
