Pollen is a petal in florr.io. It is much like a Light petal, except that it drops and remains on the ground for 5 seconds upon attacking or defending.

Appearance[]

It looks much like the Light, as it is the same shape and size, but it is yellow instead of white. The outlines of each pollen are dark yellow.

Function[]

Note: The "A + B" respawn format means that the petal takes A seconds to respawn and B seconds after respawning to do its special action/have its special action enabled.

Petal Stats
Rarity Obtainable? Damage Health Respawn Petal Count
Common No 19 5 1 + 0.5 seconds 1
Unusual Yes 57 15
Rare 85.5 (x2) 22.5 (x2) 2
Epic 171 (x3) 45 (x3) 3
Legendary 513 (x3) 135 (x3)
Mythic 1539 (x3) 405 (x3)
Ultra 4617 (x3) 1215 (x3)
Super 13851 (x3) 3645 (x3)
Unique 41553 (x3) 10935 (x3)

An Unusual Pollen has 1 petal, Rare Pollen has 2 petals, and a Pollen of rarity Epic or higher has 3 petals. If there are multiple petals, they do not occupy the same spot, so the space among all petals decreases (similar to Light).

Upon left or right-clicking, all of Pollen will drop from the flower and stay stationary, damaging enemies and projectiles that make contact in it. Left or right clicking will scatter them or cluster together respectively before staying still. Upon being dropped on the ground, pollen will stay there for 5 seconds before disappearing.

Strategy[]

Pollen DPS is lower than DPS based petals, but unlike other petals, its DPS is constant. This is because it can lay petals down at a constant rate; it does not need to immediately hit a mob to deal damage, as a mob may wander over the petal later. This is useful in creating a defensive trail or shield. It is very difficult for players and mobs to pursue a fleeing pollen user, though the front side will be left vulnerable.

Compared to the Light, a petal similar to it, this petal excels at defense while the Light is better on offense and as a general purpose petal.

Garden[]

  • Hornets stray far away from the flower, so taking them out with Pollen requires the user to flee. This can cause them to run into hornets on their front side where they will be left vulnerable.
  • Pollen is near useless against non aggressive mobs. With no way to control their movement, the user must hope the mob runs into the pollen or get extremely close to the mob, risking body damage.
  • Pollen is extremely useful against Spiders. The player can stand still and create a defensive ring that is nearly impossible to penetrate, especially since spiders have low HP. This is more effective if other players do the same. It is wise for players to keep several Pollens in their inventory, as they will come in handy when spiders swarm.

Desert[]

  • Beetles deal damage using their body, so a pursuing beetle will have to pass through a bunch of pollen petals.
    • However, if the mobs overwhelm the pollen and force the user to flee, they will be left wide open to head on attacks where they have little protection.
  • Poison don't work for petals, so a wall of pollen stalls the scorpions' pincers effectively.
  • Pollen is not very useful against Sandstorms due to their random movement.

Ocean[]

  • Pollen is still effective in ocean but is not as dominant as in other game modes.
    • Jellyfish can be taken out using pollen, but the user must flee due to the jellyfish's range. Thankfully jellyfish are slow, so a head on attack can be avoided.
      • Since jellyfishes are slow, it might not hit the pollen before it expires.
    • Pollen is good at depleting a Starfish to half health, but it cannot kill the Starfish afterward since it will then flee from the player. Other petals must be used to finish a starfish off.
    • Pollen is good against crabs.
    • Pollens can have its maximum DPS against leech, where it don't have to be laid down. Be wary of your health though.

Jungle[]

  • Pollen is riskier and more effective against wasps due to the curvy movement of their missiles. They aren't destroyed as easily as at hornets.

PvP[]

Using[]

  • Pollen can be used to slow down enemies that try to chase you. While a single Pollen does not do much, enemies that consecutively touches them will eventually have their health wear down.
  • This is a great defensive petal allowing the user to run away from players while the pollen left behind on the ground will damage them.
    • Although pollen's knockback is low, repeatedly running into it will hinder a pursuer's movement, allowing the user to get away. The pursuer can also try to dodge the pollen, but this will slow them down.

Against[]

  • It's a good idea to follow a different pathway than the trail of pollen on the ground to avoid taking damage.
  • Pollen itself is quite weak, though the chaser's petals will not be able to destroy a trail of it. It is, however, useful in close range combat where pollen is not as useful.
  • Salt will reflect damage dealt by pollen back to the user.

Hel[]

  • Pollen is not as effective since hel wasps always tend to destroy them with ease.

Trivia[]

  • Originally, Pollen couldn't be dropped by mobs. It could only be dropped by flowers that had Rare+ petals.
  • This, along with Orange, and Dahlia, is the petal tied for third with the most individual petals.
    • Light and Stinger tie for the first, with up to 5 individual petals. Grapes, Peas, Egg (Ant) and Sand tie for second with 4 petals each.
    • It, along with Light is also the only petal where the individual petals do not occupy the same spot, thus decreasing the distance between petals
  • This is one of two petals to stick to the ground, the other being Web. However, when placed down, Pollen can deal damage while Web can't.
  • Common Pollen used to be obtainable in waves, however it is no longer obtainable, however if you had a common pollen and still have it now, it still exists.
  • Before the December 29th update, mythic+ pollens used to be bigger.
