Strategy[]

For obtaining[]

The Privet Berry is dropped from Soldier Termites, which are found in Jungle and Ant Hell. It's pretty easy to obtain, having more generous chances.

For using[]

Privet Berry is a gimmicky petal that mainly depends on other petals and has horrible rarity scaling, but can still be used as long as said factors are on your side. It is hard to use effectively for any poison petal other than Iris, as Pincer has low poison DPS, Grapes does not consistenly keep mobs poisoned, and using it with Uranium is risky because it sacrifices healing petals. Even with Iris, this petal is only useful at Ultra+ rarity. Even with Ultra Iris, a Privet build does lackluster DPS, with its main use being Shells and Leafbugs. However, with Super Iris, Privets can be used to obtain upwards of 200k dps.

You should trade this for a Coin as this petal is bad. However, if you happen to get a high rarity of Iris, chances are you might want to keep the Privet Berry before getting other useful petals.

Garden[]

  • Nothing too notable really, as Privet is generally outclassed by most petals anyway. However, Spider is faster than the player, and you may want to use Pincer and Privet together to counter it.

Desert[]

  • Similarly to above in most cases, but Pincer can be used to slow a mob down and deal extra damage to it, considering the most dangerous mobs in this zone are faster than the player, like Beetle.

Ocean[]

  • Since poison ignores armor, you can use it to fight Shell, as an alternative to Lightning, which would otherwise potentially aggro unwanted extra mobs, including other shells.
  • Bubble is immune to poison, so Privet is useless against this mob.

Sewers[]

  • Similar to Desert, although you wouldn't want to aggro Roach anyway, so that just leaves the other three mobs.

Ant[]

  • Nothing too notable, but ants are generally easier to fight than other mobs, but this can be applied to better petals.

Jungle[]

  • Similarly to Shell, Privet can be used to deal damage to Leafbug.

PvP[]

Using[]
  • Poison petals are difficult to hit on other players, due to their small hitboxes. Combined with Privet's equally small hitbox, this makes it nearly impossible to deal significant damage using Privet. It is highly recommended to use other damage petals instead of Privet, as they can do much more damage and are much more consistent.
Against[]
  • Typically, the effectiveness of this petal only is affected by the other petals being used, so depending on rarity/petal choice it can just be ignored; just use stronger petals and overpower the opposer.
    • To an even further extent, if the user is using purely Privet Berries, the petal will do absolutely zero damage, as Privet doesn't actually deal any poison damage on its own.
  • However, don't ignore the other petals the opponent is using.

Trivia[]

  • It is one of the 5 petals that does a form of poison damage. The others are Iris, Pincer, Uranium and Grapes.
  • pekopekopeko crafted a Super Privet Berry less than 2 days after the petal came out making it the fastest a Super has been obtained after release.
  • Despite having no health stats, this petal isn't unbreakable. It instead always gets one-shot, even a Common mob can kill a Unique Privet Berry in no time.
  • On 21/12/24, Privet Berry got its reload buffed. Ultra Privet now has 0.4s reload instead of 0.9s reload.
  • When it was first released, extra poison duration was 0.3s.
