Strategy[]

Sand is a DPS-based petal similar to the Light, having low damage and health but fast respawn. Compared to the Light, the Sand deals more burst damage but less consistently. Sand also doesn't decrease the distance between other petals.

In terms of pure DPS, Light is better than Sand and benefits more from Bur,but maximizing Light's DPS is harder due to the rotation moving it out of position and the need of more fasters. In fact, Sand alone has the exact same DPS as Stinger, but it lacks Stinger's strong burst damage which can come in handy in certain scenarios. Sand is generally overshadowed by these two petals.

Garden

  • The sand is useful when used with the faster, dishing out high DPS.
  • It suffers from having short range which can be a problem against hornets that can shoot from a distance. Players using this must get close to mobs in order to deal damage.
    • Stinger is more reliable against Hornets since the player can use a hit-and-run technique and take less damage.
  • Sand's clumping means it serves as better defense when hit. However, the space between clumps of sand petals is further, so the shielding effect is less reliable. It also has lower health.

Desert

  • Sand excels in desert against Beetles. Anything that gets close is quickly decimated by a ring of sands. It should be paired with the faster to increase DPS.
  • Against Scorpions, Sand struggles more, especially with Legendary+ ones. Just like when fighting Hornets, Stinger is better at getting quick hits in to drain lots of health.
  • Players must be careful since the sand has low range. It is best to have a teammate use webs to immobilize enemies making them vulnerable to sand.
  • Due to Sandstorm's random movement, using Sand to take them down can be difficult, but skilled players can do it.

Ocean

  • Sand has high DPS, so it's decent against Starfish. However, due to its lack of range, sand struggles against many mobs in Ocean.
    • In particular, Jellyfish will be able to deal damage to the player before sand has the chance to deal damage to it.

Error! The argument must be Garden, Desert, Ocean, Ant Hell, Hel, Jungle or Sewers.

Using[]

  • The sand is a solid DPS petal with decent burst damage potential. However, its DPS is lower than the Light's and its burst damage is lower than the Stinger's. Sand serves as a middle ground between the two, but is typically less effective.
  • Sand can be used to wear down the HP of high health petals or disable eggs before they have a chance to hatch.
  • Sand's petal density can serve as a shield despite each individual petal being weak. This also gives it good knockback.
  • Sand can deal extreme amounts of damage combined with some Faster and most importantly, Mythic+ Bur. For example, 2 Mythic Sand and 1 Mythic Bur can deal atleast 25k damage.

Against[]

  • A few sand clumps will usually not be enough to deal lethal damage. Quick attacks can make work of a sand user.
  • Sand also serves as a shield, potentially blocking ranged attacks
    • Players should take advantage of this, using stingers or missiles to deal damage faster. Using Bubbles can help with this.
  • Lightning can bypass the sand's shielding effect.
  • A Rock or Heavy can cleave through the weak Sand petals and hit the player.

Trivia[]

  • Sand ties with Egg (Ant), Peas, and Grapes for second for the petal with the most individual petals, after Mythic Light and Ultra Stinger.
  • It's one of the petals that has no changes from the time it was released (unless you're using Duplicator talent).
  • Now, Sand can outclass Light DPS due to being affected by Duplicator talent and the mobs armor update, as well as better damage.
