Strategy[]

Although the shell does not deal much damage, it's perk, the shield, makes it quite useful. The shield acts as a second health bar, and when you receive damage, the damage will first be taken away from the shield. Combining multiple shells effectively makes a permanent shield, and will make it much harder for mobs to kill you due to the extra health bar you have.
However, this petal's long reload makes it close to vital to use multiple, taking away petal slots that could be used for other petals. Since the addition of Amulet, this petal is not used very much anymore because it is outclassed by Amulet. Shell does have one advantage over Amulet, though, and that is that it can give you shield when your health bar isn't full, which can save your life often.

Garden[]

Always use for shield-healing to prevent weaker Hornet's missiles from damaging you. The shield will also be able to help survive hits from legendary+ hornets when you inevitably get hit.

Desert[]

With more shield health, you should be able to survive damage taken from rarer mobs.
- However, Scorpion can poison you and cause you to lose your shield, although your shield would have again in time by then.
As said with the garden, legendary+ mobs are dangerous, even with a shield.

Ocean[]

The shell is somewhat effective against Jellyfishes' lightning attack. It's not that useful since crabs can easily destroy it, since they charge at you very fast.
- If you have stronger petals, like claw for example, you can easily kill legendaries or mythic mobs. In the secret December 3rd 2022 update, all the mythic mobs have more health and damage.

Ant Hole & Fire Ant Burrow[]

Because shells aren't the petals that are actually useful, getting squished to death by ants is highly not recommended, since shells are not fast enough to prevent your health from draining. If you have low health and have multiple high rarity Shells, do not try to attack high rarity Ant Holes which in turn can kill you.

PvP[]

Using[]

There actually not one of these best petals in this game, you can try to prevent the Irises' poison attack, Mythic iris potion attack is not recommended since it drains almost your health. (Although depends on rarity)
If you have 9-10 slots, using Skills, you can use the full shell build to make your health protected with shield. It's not recommended since Shells are defense petals and have more health.
- Ultra Shell gives a huge amount of shield which can technically protect you from players. Since Dandelion only reduces healing, the shield gained from Shells are not reduced by Dandelion, making it suprisingly effective.

Against[]

As mentioned just above, touching Mythic Iris is not recommended, it badly drains your health and shield.
- You have to get more healths, from skills or Cactus or Soil. Powder will decrease your health but easily to gain more speed instead of having to Bubble.
Although Shells have more health, tringers or pingers can easily destroy it due their significantly high burst damage.
However. Shells aren't useful if Mythic or Ultra pollen is placed down with enemies.
