Not to be confused with the petal, Starfish.

The Starfish is a mob from florr.io. The Starfish is unique, as it is one of the only enemies that have a defensive state, the other being the Moth.

Appearance[]

The Starfish has a similar look to its real-life counterpart. It is star-shaped, which means it has 5 limbs, and each limb has 3 little dots on it, summing up to 15 dots. When it takes a certain amount of damage, it will starts to lost some of its limbs. However, the limbs are regenerated when the Starfish is on low HP and is regenerating itself.

Stats & Behavior[]

Speed: Same as the flower's base speed.

Behavior:

  • Starfish rotates and moves around the map, until a target is in sight.
    • When a target is found, the Starfish locks in, rotating faster and moving at a more moderate speed as they slam into players.
  • A unique element to Starfish is that each time they lose a certain amount of health, they lose a limb.
    • When they lose a certain amount of limbs, or lose 50% of their max health, Starfish flee, and run away.
      • This defense mechanism also lets the Starfish regenerate health, which allows them to re-enter combat.
      • Starfish heal maximum 2.5 seconds.
      • If they lose all their health regeneration from dandelions, they will fight back regardless of their remaining health.

Strategy[]

The starfish can heal in its defensive state. However, if one gets hit by a dandelion, the starfish would go back to its attacking state as it can't heal. Thus, it's easier to kill Ultra+ Starfishes this way (Mythic Starfishes if you don't have enough damage/burst). If no one brought at least one dandelion, players can try to use death wheel builds to kill the starfish more quickly and efficiently. Stingers and other high damage petals are also very effective as they can deal high amounts of damage in an instant.

When you're surrounded with multiple Starfishes around you (specifically Mythic Starfishes), don't use Dandelion to kill them, as they may go towards you and get squashed with the other Starfishes around you while damaging them. Instead, kill them without Dandelion and also with high damage petals, because they would heal and retreat themself one by one, so we can escape from the surrounding of the Starfish crowd easily.

The starfish is more easily killed at a corner of the map where it will not aggro. Third Eye is needed for Dandelions to hit it from afar.

Trivia[]

  • In real life, Starfish could actually heal/regenerate their wounds if they lost one of their arms. However, the result were sometimes not perfect and the process time is far longer than in the game.
  • In May 18, 2024 update, Starfish health was nerfed by 3x.
  • The Starfish's description is a reference to a character called Patrick, from the show Spongebob SquarePants.
  • The Starfish along with Desert Centipedes are the only mobs that can drop Salt, but even though Desert Centipedes have a higher drop rate for Salt and more segments than Starfish, Starfish are much better to farm Salt as they have a much higher Mythic spawnrate.
    • It is the only mob to drop salt in the ocean scenario.
